HOMOSASSA, Fla. — Routine Dispatch Turns Deadly in Early Morning Standoff, One Woman Dead, Suspect in Custody
What began as a standard dispatch call on a quiet Friday morning in Homosassa, Florida, rapidly turned into a harrowing and ultimately tragic ordeal that has left a community shaken and authorities scrambling for answers.
Shortly after sunrise, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to what was initially reported as a domestic disturbance at a residence located in the normally peaceful neighborhood of Homosassa. The call, routine on its surface, quickly escalated as officers arrived to find the situation far more volatile than anticipated.
Upon approaching the home, deputies encountered 37-year-old Michael Lee McClellan, who was reportedly agitated and uncooperative. According to initial statements from law enforcement officials, McClellan refused to comply with commands and began making threatening statements.
