Tragic Incident on the Causeway: Woman Identified in Apparent Murder-Suicide

SPANISH FORT, AL — October 20, 2025 — Authorities have identified the woman who was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide on the Causeway Sunday morning as 41-year-old Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose of Mobile, Alabama. Her husband, Taurean Dubose, 36, also of Mobile, was found deceased at the scene from what police say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple was discovered in a white Chevrolet Tahoe parked near the eastbound lanes of the Battleship Parkway—commonly referred to as the Causeway—which connects Mobile and Baldwin counties. Spanish Fort Police responded to a call just after 7:00 a.m. Sunday, October 19th, after a passerby noticed the SUV parked in an unusual location and alerted authorities.

When officers arrived, they found both occupants unresponsive inside the vehicle. Emergency responders confirmed both individuals were deceased at the scene. According to early reports from investigators, Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose appeared to have suffered fatal injuries consistent with a homicide, while Taurean Dubose is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, suggesting a tragic murder-suicide scenario.

Law enforcement officials have not released details on a possible motive, but confirm that the incident is still under active investigation. No prior calls or reports involving the couple had been flagged in the immediate days leading up to the tragedy, according to initial statements.

Neighbors and friends of the Dubose family expressed shock and sorrow at the news, describing Veromonique as a devoted mother and community member. Social media has been flooded with tributes and condolences as the community struggles to come to terms with the sudden loss.

“She was vibrant, always smiling, and full of life. It’s just hard to understand how something like this could happen,” said a longtime friend of Veromonique’s, who asked not to be named. “This is a devastating loss, not just for her family, but for all of us who knew her.”

Spanish Fort Police Chief Michael Huddleston urged the public to come forward with any relevant information that may help investigators piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

“This is a heartbreaking case, and we are working diligently to understand what happened and why,” said Chief Huddleston. “We encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area of the Causeway early Sunday morning, or who may have any information about the couple’s recent whereabouts or state of mind, to contact our department.”
