Remembering Asiah: A Life of Light, Love, and Laughter
As news of Asiah’s death spread through the community, a flood of grief, disbelief, and remembrance washed over those who knew and loved her. Known for her infectious smile, generous heart, and unwavering kindness, Asiah was more than a name in a headline — she was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a source of joy to everyone blessed to know her.
“Asiah had a way of lighting up every room she walked into,” said Trenay Wallace, a close family friend. “Her laughter was the kind you never forgot — full of life, full of love.”
A graduate of Mosley High School, Asiah had deep roots in the Lynn Haven and greater Bay County area. She had recently begun taking steps toward a career in healthcare, a field that reflected her natural compassion and her desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
“She wanted to be a nurse — not for the paycheck, but because she genuinely wanted to help others,” said her aunt, Keisha Carter. “That’s who Asiah was. Always thinking of someone else.”
Her family shared that she loved music, Sunday dinners, and trips to the beach. But more than anything, she loved being around people — especially children, who were drawn to her warm and nurturing energy.
A Community Grieves Together
In the hours following the crash, friends, classmates, and community members began gathering near the site of the accident, laying down flowers, teddy bears, candles, and handwritten notes. A growing roadside memorial now stands along Highway 77, a heartbreaking but beautiful tribute to a young life lost far too soon.
A candlelight vigil has been planned for Wednesday, October 15, at 7 p.m., at Cain-Griffin Park in Lynn Haven. Organizers are asking attendees to wear purple, Asiah’s favorite color, and bring candles or flowers as a sign of remembrance and solidarity.
“This isn’t just a tragedy for her family — it’s a tragedy for all of us,” said community member Jasmine Fields. “She was one of ours. And now we have to carry her spirit forward.”
A GoFundMe page launched by family friends has already raised thousands of dollars to support funeral costs and memorial services. The Jackson family has expressed their overwhelming gratitude for the love and support they’ve received from the community.
Funeral and Memorial Services
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with visitation scheduled for Friday, October 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, October 18, at 11 a.m., to be held at New Beginning Worship Center in Panama City. The service will be open to the public, and all who wish to pay their respects are encouraged to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a memorial scholarship fund being established in Asiah’s name to support local high school students pursuing careers in healthcare.
Seeking Answers, Honoring Her Legacy
While the community continues to grieve, questions about the cause of the accident linger. The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that it is conducting a full investigation, including accident reconstruction and witness interviews.
“We want to know what happened,” said Derrick Jackson, Asiah’s father. “Not because it will bring her back — nothing can — but because she deserves that truth. She deserves justice.”
As Lynn Haven comes together in mourning, one thing is certain: Asiah Jackson’s life mattered. Her warmth, her love, and her spirit left an undeniable mark on everyone around her. And while her physical presence may be gone, her memory will endure — in every act of kindness, every shared memory, and every heart that carries her forward.
