In Loving Memory of Keenan Honeycutt and Cole Daniel — Forever in Our Hearts

Community Mourns the Loss of Two Young Lives: Remembering Keenan and Cole Daniel

South Point, Ohio – November 4, 2025
Today, the South Point Community and the Ironton Youth Football League are mourning the heartbreaking loss of two young boys whose lives were tragically cut short. The community was shaken to learn of the passing of Keenan Honeycutt and Cole Daniel, both students at Burlington Elementary School and beloved members of the South Point and Ironton youth communities.

Keenan, who proudly wore #13 for the Ironton 3rd Grade Tackle Team during the 2025 season, was known for his unwavering spirit, positive attitude, and dedication to his team. Coaches and teammates describe him as an “ALL IN” player — one who showed heart, sportsmanship, and a love for the game far beyond his years. His performance this season helped lead his team all the way to the Championship Game during playoffs, a testament to his determination and teamwork.

Cole Daniel, also a Burlington Elementary student, was equally cherished by friends, teachers, and family. Known for his bright smile and kind heart, Cole brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Both boys were full of life, potential, and promise, making their loss all the more devastating for those who knew and loved them.

The tragic accident that claimed their lives has left an entire community heartbroken. As word spread throughout the South Point Local Schools and the Ironton Youth Football League (IYFL), an outpouring of grief, love, and support has come from teammates, coaches, teachers, and families.

“We are devastated and heartbroken as a league and as a community,” the IYFL shared in a statement. “Keenan had an ALL IN attitude and was an amazing athlete. He had a very bright future ahead of him on the football field. We ask everyone to keep the families of both Keenan and Cole in their thoughts and prayers as they mourn and try to navigate the coming days. This situation is unimaginable, and no family should ever have to experience something like this.”

The Ironton Youth Football League and South Point Local Schools are urging the community to rally together in support of both families. Local organizations and businesses are encouraged to participate in — or organize — fundraisers and donation drives to help ease the financial burdens these families now face. Those wishing to make direct donations are asked to contact the league or South Point Local Schools for details.

In addition, counselors will be available at Ironton Elementary School (IES) and Ironton Middle School (IMS) to assist any students or players who are struggling to cope with this tragic loss. The league encourages all youth players to seek support if needed and to lean on their teammates, coaches, and school counselors during this difficult time.

As the community grieves, officials ask that everyone respect the privacy of the families. They are requesting that no one post questions or speculations about the incident on social media or in comment sections. Instead, the focus should remain on offering compassion, prayer, and support to those who are hurting most.

The Ironton Youth Football League closed their message with a touching tribute to Keenan:

“Rest in Peace #13. We love you.” 🧡🖤

Keenan and Cole will forever be remembered for their smiles, their friendship, and the joy they brought to those around them. Their absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but their memory will continue to inspire strength, unity, and love within the South Point and Ironton communities.
