In a harrowing turn of events early Friday morning, an attempted ATM theft at a Murfreesboro gas station resulted in the death of one suspect and the apprehension of four others in Arkansas.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, three individuals arrived at the 7-Eleven Exxon located on East Northfield Boulevard in Murfreesboro. Utilizing a stolen white pickup truck, they attempted to steal the store’s ATM by smashing the front window with a sledgehammer and attaching a guy wire to the machine, intending to pull it out using the truck
The Fatal Shooting
Inside the store at the time was a customer, described by store employee Walter Pate as a regular and possibly military-trained. Upon witnessing the robbery, the customer drew a firearm and fatally shot one of the suspects. The other two suspects fled the scene, leaving their accomplice behind .
Identification of the Deceased Suspect
The deceased suspect was identified as 23-year-old Tyrese Walder. Following the incident, Murfreesboro police issued a nationwide alert for the remaining suspects
Apprehension in Arkansas
Utilizing license plate readers and crime analysts, authorities tracked the suspects’ vehicle to Arkansas. On Friday, Arkansas State Police intercepted the vehicle and arrested the four individuals, who were reportedly en route back to Texas. The suspects are currently awaiting extradition to Tennessee .
