The crash occurred just north of Hicks Airfield, a private-use airport frequently used by general aviation pilots. According to preliminary information from officials on-site, the aircraft — believed to be a small twin-engine plane — was attempting either a landing or takeoff when it veered off course and struck several semi-trucks parked near an industrial loading area adjacent to the airfield.

“I looked up and saw the plane flying really low, and then it just dipped and slammed into the trucks,” said Miguel Castillo, a delivery driver who was parked less than 100 yards from the crash. “The explosion was instant. I felt the heat from where I was standing.”
Others described hearing a loud mechanical sputter moments before the impact, suggesting the aircraft may have been experiencing engine trouble. However, authorities have not confirmed any mechanical failures as of this report.

The crash has stunned the surrounding communities of Fort Worth, Haslet, and Saginaw, especially those who live and work near Hicks Airfield — an area typically known for its quiet skies and routine aviation activity. Several local businesses remain closed as fire crews continue to monitor the site for flare-ups and potential hazardous material exposure.
The FAA has launched a preliminary investigation into the aircraft’s flight path and mechanical history, while the NTSB will take the lead in determining the cause of the crash. Investigators will also examine air traffic control communications, weather conditions, and pilot records.
As of Sunday morning, the identities of the pilot and possible passengers aboard the aircraft have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
