SHREVEPORT, La. — Community Grieves the Tragic Death of Young Woman Identified as Armoni Following Sunday Afternoon Shooting

A somber mood has fallen over the city of Shreveport after a young woman, identified by authorities as Armoni, tragically lost her life following a shooting that occurred on Sunday afternoon, November 2. The heartbreaking incident unfolded around 4 p.m., leaving the community shaken and demanding answers.
The Incident
According to Shreveport Police, officers were dispatched to the area between Claiborne Avenue and Queens Highway after reports of what initially appeared to be a traffic accident. Upon arrival, police discovered that the situation was far more serious — both occupants of a vehicle, a male and a female, had been shot while inside the car.
Inside the vehicle, officers also found a young child seated in the backseat. Miraculously, the child was unharmed but was visibly frightened as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
Both adult victims were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. While the male victim’s condition has not been released, authorities confirmed that Armoni sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite valiant efforts by medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries later that evening.
A City in Shock
News of Armoni’s death spread quickly across Shreveport, sparking an outpouring of grief and concern on social media. Family members, friends, and community members have described her as a loving, kind-hearted woman whose bright spirit touched many lives.
“Armoni was full of life,” said a close friend who gathered with others near the scene on Monday morning. “She didn’t deserve this. She was a mother, a friend, and someone who cared deeply about the people around her.”
Many community members expressed heartbreak that a child witnessed such a traumatic event, calling it yet another tragic reminder of the ongoing gun violence impacting Shreveport neighborhoods.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities have not released information regarding possible suspects or motives, but the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating the shooting. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area and interviewing witnesses in hopes of piecing together what led up to the deadly incident.

A candlelight vigil is reportedly being organized in her honor later this week, where loved ones plan to release balloons and share stories about the woman they say “radiated love and strength.”
