A Life Cut Tragically Short
Born and raised in Spartanburg County, Charles Anthony Leslie II—known affectionately by family and friends as “Tony”—was a man who embodied warmth, dedication, and a deep sense of community. A longtime resident of Boiling Springs, Tony was known for his generous spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
“Tony had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered,” said longtime friend Marcus Griffin. “He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back—no questions asked. His loss is immeasurable.”
Tony worked as a skilled tradesman in the construction and home renovation field, where he earned a reputation not just for his craftsmanship, but for his honesty and commitment to helping others. He was a man who believed in working hard, treating people with respect, and doing what was right, even when no one was watching.
“He didn’t just build homes,” said a former coworker. “He built relationships, he built trust, and he built community.”
A Devoted Son, Father, and Friend
Charles Anthony Leslie II is survived by his loving family, including his parents, Charles Leslie Sr. and Diane Leslie, as well as his two children, Jayden, 14, and Alana, 10. His family describes him as a deeply devoted father who made time for his children no matter how busy life got.
“His kids were his everything,” said his sister, Tasha Leslie. “He was there for every birthday, every school play, every scraped knee. He made sure his kids knew they were loved every single day.”
In addition to being a father and son, Tony was a cherished friend to many. Known for his humor, loyalty, and ability to bring people together, he played an active role in his neighborhood and frequently volunteered at community events in Boiling Springs.
“He didn’t need recognition,” said neighbor Michelle Bryant. “He just showed up—whether it was helping someone move, fixing a fence, or cooking for a community fundraiser. That’s who he was.”
A Community in Grief
The Boiling Springs and greater Spartanburg County communities are reeling from the loss. On Saturday evening, dozens gathered at the corner of Old Furnace and Southland Road for a candlelight vigil in his memory. Friends, neighbors, and community members brought flowers, handwritten notes, and photographs, sharing stories of how Tony had touched their lives.
“I still can’t believe he’s gone,” said childhood friend Lamar Williams. “You think people like Tony will always be around. He was the heart of this place.”
Many took to social media to express their condolences and share memories. The outpouring of support has been a source of comfort to the Leslie family during this unimaginably difficult time.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by family friends to support funeral expenses and to help provide for Tony’s two children. The campaign met its initial goal within 24 hours, reflecting the deep love and respect the community holds for him.
