Arkansas State Police Investigating Death of 18-Year-Old Jacob Allen Marquis on I-40 Near Earle

Earle, Ark. — The Arkansas State Police have launched a full investigation following the tragic death of 18-year-old Jacob Allen Marquis of Marked Tree, who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 40 late Friday night.

According to authorities, Marquis had been dispatched to the area to assist with a tire repair when the fatal incident occurred. The young man was found deceased on the shoulder of I-40 near the town of Earle, located in Crittenden County.

The incident took place between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, along a stretch of the interstate that runs through eastern Arkansas. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle that struck Marquis did not stop at the scene, and investigators are currently treating the case as a hit-and-run.

Jacob Marquis was reportedly employed in roadside assistance or mechanical services and was responding to a service call at the time of the incident. Officials have not yet released further details about the vehicle he had been assisting or whether there were any witnesses at the scene.

Arkansas State Police Troop D is urging anyone who may have been traveling along I-40 in the vicinity of Earle between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday night to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
